Memories of Oklahoma Summers

As a kid, I spent many summers in Oklahoma before air conditioning ... it was steamy hot and the only wall fan was in the living room. Really, no clothes nor sheets were required, but this was the Bible belt and we would never consider ... However, to run the fan, you lived with little bugs, so most of us tolerated at least a sheet and/or a summer quilt (no batting) to sleep through the night. Memories of my grandmother embroidering or reading her Bible and fresh, homegrown, sliced tomatoes, peach cobbler with hand churned ice cream and lots and lots of stories shared by my mother and aunts and cousins offered plenty of inspiration for this hand embroidered quilt. It is finished with a prairie point border reminding us of the Kansas and Oklahoma Land Runs integral within our family history.
