January and February 2003

Time passes quickly, but we are slowly making progress! We inherited potholes galore ~ but once we got the tractor working and a day nice enough to take off shirts, they got filled!

Kacey demonstrated tractor skills to Oliver who had just gotten home from his trip to India, a handmade custom drum-set in tow ... Kacey manuevers the bucket like a PRO!

We introduced Oliver to Sophie and helped him get his feet solidly back on USA ground with some good hard work!
(He was a very good sport on jet-lag!)

Carl demonstrated "proper use" of a shovel
(woo woo, check out those Abs!)

Sophie showed them all who was the real boss of the tractor...

Finally we could drive up our road and
keep our teeth, all at the same time!

The compost bins are in across from
the future veggie garden site

The worm bin is built and inhabited with worms!

Bit by bit, the bathrooms are beginning to look like our own
(click on the photo to see the "before" shot)

Amazing what paint, fixtures, tile and mirrors can do!

We painted the kitchen, Carl built shelves and Jana found a hutch so cheap at an after-Christmas sale, that we could afford it!

The wall to the mudroom is out... the new fan is in...

A door from the old mudroom has been opened into the living room
(better traffic flow)

And the old linoleum is pulled up so we can install tile

Jana tried her hand at tin-front doors for the pantry...
(once was enough)

It's a mess and there is no goin' back now, but believe it or not, we do not have that much further to go!

Neighbors checked out our work...

Echo and Sophie checked out the blooming flowers...

Some of  Jean's bulbs begin to "pop"!

We got our domestic fence staked...to the right of the house

To the left of the house... (the posts mark the gates)

But Echo mostly prefers to hang out in the creek!

Sophie wasn't as sure ~ that water is COLD!

Carl took some time to look for good rocks...

And Echo practiced her camouflage techniques
in "dog stick heaven"

And Sophie bit enough ankles to get her picture taken

Jana just loves being here and enjoying it all.

And the creek just "does its thing..."

While we are content to watch!
